Local Area Info

Peterborough's vast selection of houses - from starter homes to substantial properties in attractive villages - offers unsurpassed value and quality for any comparable location so close to London.
Residential housing

The Hampton township on the southern perimeter of Peterborough will eventually provide 7000 homes for 17,500 people.

The first phase of a 900-home development at Riverside Place, Oundle Road, Peterborough, is under construction and a start is expected in 2003 on the first phase of a 300-home scheme by Persimmon at the East of England showground site.

Around 1,300 new homes could be built at Stanground when a by-pass road is constructed and a further 30 sites around Peterborough have been identified for the construction of 2,700 homes by 2006.

Efficient road links to a large number of small towns and villages give local residents an unlimited choice of rural homes - from stone-built cottages to large manors set in their own grounds.

If you just love to shop, then Peterborough will fulfil your every need with modern shopping centres, traditional high street stores and old-style markets linked by landscaped pedestrian areas.

Peterborough CathedralPeterborough Cathedral
Towering majestically above the city centre stands the third abbey, founded in 1118, now the Cathedral of St Peter. This beautiful building keeps guard over the town's bustling city centre and bears testament to the many fascinating events which have taken place over the centuries. The cathedral's west front is breathtaking and the building as a whole is one the finest examples of Norman architecture in Europe.
